Dornburg an der Saale - English

The unique ensemble of the castles of Dornburg is located 90 m about the bottom of the saale valley on the border of a shell limestone plateau. The old castle on the right is situated on the relicts of an ancient castle of the ottonian dynasty. The German King Otto the Great has to resided here few times in 10th century. All castles were in possession of the Dukes of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach, which had established the beautiful park around the castles in the 18th und 19th century after examples of French and English landscape gardening. Today the castles includes a museum, exhibitions and a café during the summer. The garden and terraces are accessible all the year round.
